I wasn’t looking for a new member to add to our little team, but when I saw Demi advertised I thought I would enquire. Gemma happily provided me with video and multiple pictures and answered all my questions.  

When Demi arrived, she had not long been weaned and she hopped off the truck after a lengthy trip calmly and quietly. She has the sweetest temperament and obviously had been very well handled. She has fit into our family easily and has fast become everybody’s favourite. 

She is an absolute credit to Gemma’s breeding and handling program. We are looking forward to Demi’s future as a saddle galloway for the whole family.

I never, in my wildest dreams, thought I would buy a young horse before meeting Gemma. From the very beginning, her horses are exceptionally well trained and thoughtfully desensitised, which made the idea of purchasing a young horse not only possible but genuinely exciting. 

Lush, has been nothing short of incredible. He is always willing, ready to go, and has the most beautiful temperament with outstanding foundations. I constantly receive compliments on his movement and overall beauty, and that is a true reflection of the ethical, knowledgeable, and critical thinking approach Gemma puts into her breeding program. 

I couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend GL Performance Horses to anyone considering a quality young horse bred and started the right way. 

  When I first met Gemma Leef, my confidence with horses was low. I originally contacted her to sell a horse on my behalf, and through that process she was straightforward, supportive, and easy to deal with. Over time, working with her helped me rebuild my confidence, particularly around my own decisions with horses and training.  

On one visit I noticed a foal she had in the paddock and really liked what I saw, the temperament and movement stood out to me. 

That led to my purchase of GL Sincerely Yours. Some time later, based on that experience, I went on to purchase GL Scandalous Dream in utero. By then, I felt comfortable with the program and confident in the type of horses being produced. 

 I’ve now been part of the GL Team for almost seven years. Both horses have been very rideable and sensible, which meant I was able to start them myself. That rideability has made a big difference to my enjoyment and confidence, and both purchases have proven to be the right decision for me. 

My daughter Hayley has been riding since she was 8 she’s now 17. She has experience with many horses - OTTB, quarter horses, stock horses but dressage has always been her passion. I have learnt from her over the years. 

Her old riding instructor said to her when she was 11, if you ever get a young horse go to Gemma Leef. 3 years later I finally bit the bullet and agreed to buy a foal not a live foal but a foal in utero. 

All I can say is wow!! 

When we first met Gemma she was so accommodating and worked out with my Hayley exactly what she was wanting,  we spent 2 hours at her property. She kept us up to date with the pregnancy and encouraged us to spend time with the mare Flame which we did. Later we ended up buying Flame to take Quiz closer to our home to be able to see him everyday. Quiz is everything we hoped for. 

His temperament is to die for and his movement is amazing. He is now rising 2 and we cannot wait to see what he can achieve. 

Gemma we are so glad we met you and thankyou for breeding such amazing foals. You are so easy to talk to and your service doesn’t end when the foals sre sold and taken. We consider you a life long friend snd mentor. Keep up the amazing work. I hope you have made lots of people so happy like you have us.

If you're looking for a level headed, well bred and handled youngster I couldn't recommend Gemma Leef Equestrian enough, I've owned GL Sincerely Mine for almost 3 years now and she has always had the perfect temperament and had been handled extensively so taking her out to shows was no fuss at all.

All of Gemma's horses are especially bred for desired results and the quality is second to none.

Gemma has also been an incredible mentor and riding coach who is always happy to help you achieve your goals and help when needed, she has extensive knowledge in high quality breeding, current market conditions and has a professional approach when showing and selling horses.

I've seen many of Gemma's foals turn into sensational ridden horses over the years and I look forward to seeing other GL horses out in the show ring soon.

Dazzle is everything I have wanted in a young horse and I couldn't be happier with her 

 After having spent over 6 months viewing horses and feeling very disheartened, I was truly blessed to come across Gemma Leef equestrian. 

From the first visit I immediately knew the horses I was viewing were incredibly well looked after and well handled. Gemma took the time to discuss what I was looking for and was honest and upfront on what she thought would be suitable for me. 

Gemma welcomed me onto her property on many occasions, openly invited me to events and training sessions and never rushed me throughout the buying process. I was so happy with my first purchase of the beautiful filly GL Champagne On Ice that I shortly after purchased a lovely colt from her, GL Glamour Me Up. 

Gemma has been an incredible support throughout this entire process and I am very excited about my future with these two exceptional horses that I am honoured to have the opportunity to own.

I have known Gemma since May 2022.  I fell in love with her beautiful horses and bought GL Sacred Beginnings (Finn) soon after in June 2022. 

Finn is an Arabian Warmblood and was only 16 months old. It was the first time I had ever had such a young and inexperienced horse so it was all a bit overwhelming at times. However, Gemma has supported and mentored me all the way and made it possible for Finn and I to grow and develop together.

Finn is now 3 years old and recently started under saddle. He is my pride and joy and has taken every step of his training in stride with little fuss and a “can do” attitude.
We have also competed successfully at shows in-hand, proving he has both beauty and brains.

Finn’s trainability and temperament is a testament to Gemma’s experience, planning and dedication to her breeding program. I know she spends countless hours researching bloodlines and carefully selecting stallions and this commitment to quality has been evident in every GL horse I have met to date. 

Because of Gemma’s ongoing support, my own confidence has grown and I have recently taken another step on my equestrian journey and purchased a foal (in utero). GL Fantasticate (Foxi) was born 1/2/24 and is a super friendly, confident, chestnut filly, by Fynch Hatton. She is only 6 weeks old but already showing great promise as a future performance horse.

I am very excited to see what is ahead for both of my GL horses and can’t thank Gemma enough for her guidance, advice, lessons/coaching, and education that she is always willing to give.
Buying a GL horse is definitely an investment in quality. 

Magic is the most wonderful clever young horse I could have wished for. Having had the expert handling as a baby has equipped him extremely well for his future.
